WHAT WE OFFER
Rackley Kawana Squad Programs caters for all abilities and the focus is on developing each swimmer to reach their potential and love of the sport. Training sessions will provide swimmers with the skills and stamina needed to set their sights on competing at their chosen level be it Local, School, Masters or National level. Kawana Waters Swim Club and its coaching staff are supporters of Swimming QLD's Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model the aim of the training model is to ensure that young athletes are introduced to certain types of training at the appropriate time. This is referred to as "critical periods of train-ability" and requires careful consideration and planning by our coaches.
The club not only accommodates those purely focused on swimming but also has a large number of water polo players, surf lifesaving competitors as well as triathletes that are members of the squads (with a number of the swimmers competing in both surf lifesaving and water polo).
OUR COACHES
Our experienced coaching team led by Damian Bawden (OLY) and Dorian Gandin brings a high level of coaching expertise and dedication to all the swimmers.
OUR FACILITIES
The Kawana Aquatic centre boasts a ten-lane, 50-metre pool as well as a six-lane, 25-metre pool (in addition to its facilities for water polo and learn to swim programs) which are utilised for the training of each of the club's squads. Both pools are heated and covered during the winter months to provide year-round training.
JOIN THE CLUB!
At Rackley Kawana, we encourage Squad swimmers to join the swim club (Kawana Waters Swim Club) which enables swimmers to swim at our regular swim club nights as well as competing at local, Queensland and National Swim meets. Our club, being one of the largest swimming clubs on the Sunshine Coast, has enjoyed much success at local, State and National competitions. This includes finishing ninth in the nation from a team points perspective at the Age National Championships in 2015 and 2016 and tenth in the nation at the 2017 Championships.
